The teacher
Summary
In the year 1914. A man travelling alone on a train from France to Barcelona. Near the Montseny mountain range he feels a desire to alight at a small village station. The oblivion that he is looking for may be found in the silence of the mountains. The protagonist becomes part of a small community of lumberjacks and gets accustomed to the simple life and the contact with nature. Leaving behind the ideals and dreams wrapped in his unknown past. However, we cannot go against our destiny, and soon we will discover that the children of forest exploitation need him. Perhaps that isolated forest could be, after all, the place to put into practice the pedagogic principles that the Modern School had developed in Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century.
A novel about dreams that keep us alive, the old ideals which are never forgotten and the strength of children to change the world.
